With the aim of attending the Industrial Partnership Conference 2025 on the campus of the German Jordanian University (GJU), I traveled to Jordan in October. Under bright sunshine, I arrived at the main campus of the GJU in Amman. In front of the modern building of the Technology, Research and Innovation Park (TRIP), which served as the venue for the conference on that day, I was greeted by a familiar face: Oliver Gebert had also traveled to attend the Industrial Partnership Conference.‍
As he later told me, he is not only the founder and managing director of Rockware GmbH & Co. KG, but is also deeply committed to introducing Jordan as a country and as a market opportunity to German entrepreneurs. True to the motto: “Business across Borders.” He does this, among other things, through the German Association for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses – Entrepreneurs’ Association Germany (BVMW) as well as through Gateway Jordan, where he brings German and Jordanian companies into dialogue.‍

Internationally Positioned – Rockware GmbH & Co. KG

With regard to his owner-managed software and IT consulting company, Oliver is particularly proud of Rockware’s international client base, which the company acquires through the planning, consulting, and implementation of digital platforms and software architectures. The company was founded in 2005. Its core business lies in the development of enterprise software solutions, particularly in the areas of content management systems and digitalization, as well as automation.
The company headquarters are located in Finsing near Munich. From there, Rockware focuses on the fields of software architecture and development, enterprise content management (including Adobe Experience Manager), digitalization of business processes, as well as the establishment and management of international development teams.‍

Diverse Collaboration with the GJU

Since 2018, Oliver has actively contributed his international engagement to the cooperation with the German Jordanian University. This collaboration ranges from hosting GJU students for their mandatory internships to supervising final theses and engaging in professional exchange with faculties and various project offices at the GJU. In 2019, Oliver expanded his initiative by establishing Rockware Jordan (Munich Software Development Company LLC) on the GJU campus. In conversation, he emphasizes that the cooperation is based on “personal trust, professional proximity, and a shared understanding of international education and labor market requirements.”‍

Perspectives for GJU Students: The Internship

Oliver is particularly proud of those interns who received a permanent position at his company after completing their internship. He highlights that GJU students not only impressed with solid professional skills, but also stood out due to their high level of motivation as well as their human and international openness.
For students of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and engineering-related programs, Rockware offers various specialization opportunities. Internships and final theses are particularly possible in the areas of software development, computer science, digitalization and automation, as well as in technical project work.‍
Students who demonstrate initiative, willingness to learn, teamwork skills, and reliability will find at Rockware a corporate culture characterized by trust, personal responsibility, openness, transparency, and continuous learning.‍

A Look into the Future

In the coming years, Rockware aims to further expand international cooperation and deepen the exchange between Germany and Jordan. Supporting young talent and fostering internationality play a central role in this process – both in building teams and in developing new projects and long-term partnerships.‍
For students, applying to Rockware is worthwhile because they can take on responsibility at an early stage by working on real projects and thus gain valuable insights into international working environments. In closing, Oliver offers students a personal piece of advice:
“Use internships not only to deepen your technical knowledge, but also to learn about working methods, responsibility, and international collaboration.”‍
