In this talk, Rainer Rehak will discuss why digital protection should no longer be understood only from an individual privacy perspective, but also from a systemic and societal perspective. The talk will address issues such as power imbalances, unintended structural consequences, group fairness or unfairness, responsibility, and risks in IT systems. It will also introduce the method of a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) as a constructive way to evaluate and improve future digital systems.
