Online talk and discussion as part of the German Jordanian Discourse Series 2026
In this talk, Rainer Rehak will critically examine the idea of artificial intelligence as a sustainability “game-changer”. The presentation will discuss the material, informational, and social dimensions of AI, including resource consumption, data dependency, centralised control, exploitative data work, and environmental harm. It will also address the political character of AI-based optimisation and its implications for sustainability, transformation, and digital degrowth.
